Sterile Multifilament Fast Absoroable Polycolid Acid Sutures With or Without Needle WEGO-RPGA
As the description in European Pharmacopoeia, sterile synthetic absorbable braided sutures consist of sutures prepared from a synthetic polymer, polymers or copolymers. RPGA it the type of sutures composed of Polyglycolic Acid (PGA). The empirical formula of the polymer is (C2H2O2)n. The characteristic rapid loss of strength is achieved by use of a polymer material with a lower molecular weight than regular WEGO-PGA suture. WEGO-PGA RAPID sutures are available undyed and dyed violet with D&C Violet No.2 (Colour Index number 60725).
WEGO-PGA RAPID sutures are coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate.
WEGO-PGA RAPID sutures should be selected and implanted depending on patient condition, surgical experience, surgical technique and wound size.
Due to the rapid loss of tensile strength, WEGO-PGA RAPID should not be used where extended approximation of tissues under stress is required or where wound support or ligation beyond 7 days is required. WEGO-PGA RAPID suture is not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.
Absorption begins as a loss tensile of strength followed by a loss of mass. Implantation studies in rats show the following profile.
|Days||Approximate % original|
|42 to 63 days||0%|
Compared with RPGA (PGA RAPID）sutures, RPGLA(PGLA RAPID) has a longer time of completelly absorption time of 56 days to 70 days than that of RPGA.
