Recently, WEGO Group National Engineering Research Center for Medical Implant Interventional Devices and Materials (hereinafter referred to as “Engineering Research Center”) stood out from more than 350 scientific research units, It has been included in the list of 191 new series management by the National Development and Reform Commission, and it has also become the first national engineering research center in the industry led by an enterprise, and its scientific research and technical strength has been recognized by the state again.

The National Engineering Research Center is a “national team” that supports and serves the country’s major strategic tasks and the implementation of key projects.

“National Engineering Laboratory for Medical Implantable Devices” was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2009, and was jointly established by WEGO Group and the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Through the construction of basic research, common technology, product development, pilot test transformation, and hospital promotion innovation chain, breakthroughs in “stuck neck” technologies such as the preparation of key common materials, surface functionalization modification and sophisticated and complex molding, lead my country’s orthopedic implants, cardiac Internal consumables, blood purification equipment and other industries developed rapidly.

Since its establishment, the Engineering Research Center has undertaken 177 scientific research projects, among them, 38 are at the national level, and the representative technological achievements have successively won 4 national science and technology awards, applied for 147 domestic invention patents and 13 PCT patents, possessed 166 valid invention patents, and participated in the formulation of 15 international, domestic and industry standards.

In 2017, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the “National Science and Technology Innovation Base Optimization and Integration Plan”, which pointed out that the existing national bases should be optimized and adjusted, and the existing pilot national laboratories and national key laboratories should be assessed and evaluated, through withdrawal, merger, transfer and other methods, optimize and integrate, and integrate into the relevant base sequence management according to the conditions, follow the principle of “less but fine”, and select the best ones to deploy and build a batch of high-level national-level bases. Under the strong guidance of the provincial and municipal governments, the strong support of the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the participation of all relevant departments of WEGO, the Engineering Research Center has become the first national engineering research in the industry led by an enterprise through the re-evaluation center.

The Engineering Research Center adheres to the strategic needs of the country and the industry as the starting point, focuses on the key common technological breakthroughs in the implantation and interventional medical device industry, the engineering and industrial application of major scientific and technological achievements, and aims to serve the major national strategic tasks and the implementation of key projects.
