WEGO-NYLON is a synthetic non-absorbable sterile monofilament surgical suture composed of polyamide 6 (NH-CO-(CH2)5)n or polyamide 6.6 [NH-(CH2)6)-NH-CO-(CH2)4-CO]n.
Polyamide 6.6 is formed by polycondensation of hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid. Polyamide 6 is formed by polymerization of caprolactam.
WEGO-NYLON sutures are dyed blue with phthalocyanine blue (Color Index Number 74160) ; Blue (FD & C #2) ( Color Index Number 73015) or Logwood Black (Color IndexNumber75290).
From USP 5# to USP 10/0, WEGO-NYLON suture is available in a range of lengths, attached to stainless steel needles of varying types and sizes.
WEGO-NYLON suture complies with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia monographs for Sterile Polyamide 6 suture or Sterile Polyamide 6.6 suture and the United States Pharmacopoeia monograph of Non-absorbable Sutures.
WEGO-NYLON suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation,including use in ophthalmic procedures.
WEGO-NYLON suture elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue, While polyamide is not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the polyamide in vivo may result in gradual loss over time of tensile strength.
The thread body of WEGO-NYLON suture is round, not oval. In this way, during the operation, the wound will not be damaged by the irregular thread body.
